Abstract: In this example we are showing how we can make use of the template field. The example shows how we can concantenate the first and last name into one field. You can choose to delete both the first and last name fields or you can add to either one. In this example I deleted the last name field and then coverted the first name field to a template field and of course changed the text heading to "Name".

The example is shown here converting the date hire field to a template field and then replacing the label control with a calendar web control. I binded both the visibleDate and SelectedDate bindable properties without two way binding and made sure that the viewState was set to true in the event a user attempts to change the date, on post back it will always revert back to the underlying data source, which in this case is the actual employee hire date.
